Born on March 5, 1938, in Acheng, Heilongjiang, the northernmost province in China, Dr. Wang graduated from Beijing Normal University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. An exceptional scientist and educator, he played a pivotal role in establishing the field of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) in China, making significant strides in its development.
In 1983, Dr. Wang came to the United States, where he continued his scientific pursuits as a visiting scholar. Subsequently, he founded his own company, JS Research, in 1995, dedicated to NMR Probe research, development, manufacture, and service. Over the years, Dr. Wang collaborated with esteemed institutions such as Harvard University, MIT, and various industry leaders, leaving an enduring legacy in the field.
A respected member of the Experimental Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Conference (ENC) since 1984, Dr. Wang co-founded the Oversea Chinese Magnetic Resonance Association (OCMRA) in 1996, fostering international cooperation among scientists. In 2014, OCMRA established the "JinShan Research Excellence Award" in his honor, recognizing the outstanding contributions of overseas Chinese scientists in magnetic resonance research.
Dr. Wang is also a loving husband. He shared his life with his beloved wife, Connie So Wang, whom he married on November 23, 1996, in Quincy.
Dr. Wang is survived by his wife, Connie, of Altamonte Springs; his daughters Ying Wang of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and Jie Wang of Seattle, Washington; his stepdaughter, Sarah Deaton, also of Seattle, Washington; and his sisters, Li Wang and JinFeng Wang, residing in China.
A funeral service to commemorate Dr. JinShan Wang's life will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home – West Altamonte Chapel located at 90 Weathersfield Ave, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714.
