Hector (Sandy) Johnston Brown, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, born November 28, 1934, passed away on March 11, 2024 at the age of 89 years old. Sandy grew up in Vermilion Bay, Ontario, Canada where he helped his family run a fish camp in the summer as a fishing guide. After meeting his wife Janet and later marrying her in 1959, they moved to Florida where he opened and ran a fish camp on Lake Apopka. In 1964, he began work as a boat mechanic at Winter Park Marine and eventually worked his way into sales and then general management. In 1980, Sandy opened his own business, Teak Isle, a company that now manufactures and designs boat interiors and components for the majority of boat builders in the United States.
He is preceded in death by parents Alice and William; siblings Daisy, Kenneth and Robert; and granddaughter Nicole.
Sandy is survived by his wife Janet; his children, Pat and wife Beth, David and wife Maryann and Susan and husband John; his brother, William; his grandchildren, Andrew and wife Erinn, Amy and husband Brandon, Christy and husband Michael, John Jr and wife Katy, Barbara, Matthew and wife Keriane, Brianne, Parker, Nicholas; great grandchildren, Chase, Elliot, Bria, Emilia, Henry and Lucas.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 22nd from 12pm-2pm at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home located at 90 Weathersfield Ave. in Altamonte Springs, FL. 32714. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2pm, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
