The daughter of Carl Joseph and Mary J. Allen, Beth moved to Orlando from Marion, OH in the early 80s. She is a graduate of St. Joseph's College in Cincinnati, OH and Florida State University where she received her Masters in Social Work. Beth worked in the field of Social Work at the Orange County Social Service's office prior to being involved in the Orange County Mental Health Services delivery system. She coordinated the Children's Unit at the Orange County Crisis Center. Beth's work with children continued in the Orange County School Board where she worked as a School Social Worker for over twenty years. She dedicated her life to helping children at risk and children from needy families. She loved being able to bring Christmas gifts to needy children and frequently spent her time on home visits addressing the needs of families--not just her children assigned to her, but all of the siblings.
Beth is survived by her husband Jerry with whom she has enjoyed over 29 years. She is survived by her brother, Brad Allen of Pensacola, FL; her sister, Donna Zolkiewski of Calgary, Canada; and, her brother, Leroy from Gastonia, South Carolina. Beth is also survived by her foster daughter, Alicia Gies and her husband Ryan, of Powell, OH and their three children, Evan, Timothy and Daniel who were very special to Beth. She was also survived by her step-children, Kara Griffin and husband, Chris of Charlotte, NC; Jerry Kinzler, Jr. of Cameron S.C.; Beth Parrish of Maitland, FL; James F. Kinzler and Tina Pullara of Clermont, FL; and, Sara Lazzeri with husband, Nick of Orlando, FL. Beth was loved by her five grandchildren, Madison Parrish, Katie Griffin, Emily Parrish, Ellie Griffin and Eva Lazzeri. She is survived by her nephews, Jason and Ryan Allen and Nicholas Zolkiewski; and her nieces, Amy Allen, Mary Zolkiewski and Diana Zolkiewski. Her special friends, Al and Angelina Jenks, were always there for her throughout her illness and made the journey so much brighter.
Beth was a lector at St. Margaret Mary Church and enjoyed her activities with her Church Ladies. She loved her pets and was always bringing home a lost cat; Beth always loved to walk and was always with her dog, Shadow.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Richard Walsh and co-celebrant, Sal Pigmato, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Winter Park on Tuesday, November 26th, 2019 at 11am with a short visitation prior at 10:30am.
