Dorothy was born April 14, 1930 in Terre Haute, IN to Elvora (Mayville) and Leo Coan.
She had a variety of interests during her lifetime. After graduating from West Side Beauty College in Evansville, Dorothy owned and operated a beauty shop. She also enjoyed working in the Jewelry Department at the Sears store in Evansville. Sewing was another talent she possessed; she re-upholstered her own furniture and could sew anything.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Fred C. Overfield, her second
husband, Gene Sachs, one sister, Nellie Brand, and one grandson, Michael Overfield.
She is survived by three sons: Fred (Debbie) Overfield, Jr. of St. Louis, MO, Gerald (Diane) Overfield of Evansville, IN and Tom (Karin) Overfield, also of Evansville. She is also survived by one sister, Joyce Norman of Minnesota, four brothers: Tom Coan of Spokane, WA, Paul Coan of Mt. Vernon, IN, Phillip (Linda) Coan of Newburgh, IN and Steve(Cecilia) Coan of Evansville, IN, and ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services for Dorothy Mae Sachs will be at 11 AM, Monday, July 9th, 2012 at Ingram Funeral Home in Allendale, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of service.
Burial will follow in the Allendale Cemetery, Allendale, IL.
