Robert “Bob” Louis Horton was born in Bethesda, Maryland, on December 19, 1944, to Robert and Doris Horton. Bob was educated and attended the Linton Hall Military Academy in Bristow. Later, Bob served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a sergeant and was a Vietnam-era veteran. He was proud to be a Marine and having served his country.
After Bob’s return from the war, he was reunited with his wife, Catherine (now deceased), at their then home in Washington, DC. Through their union, they had five children: Robert, John, Richard, Michael, and James.
In 1980, Bob and family moved to North Beach, Maryland, a place he always referred to as truly being “home.” He loved raising his family in the Bay area and enjoyed the small town environment. Bob, a free-spirited man, had a keen sense of humor, enjoyed reading, especially about current events and military history, and listening to country music.
Bob had been a long-time employee with the State Department and was a telecommunications expert. He travelled extensively both in the U.S. and overseas, and oftentimes on short notice.
Bob is survived by his long-time companion, Carolyn Jones, and her two children, Jessica & Michael from Alexandria, VA; also, His sons: Robert, from Florida, John and his wife Karen, from North Beach, MD, Richard, from North Beach, MD, Michael, and James, both from Virginia as well as 11 grandchildren.
