Robert James Donahue

LTG ROBERT J. DONAHUE (Ret.) Passed away in his home on Saturday, May 24, 2014. His loving wife Elyse preceded him in death. He is survived by his brother David, his children, Patrick, Brian, Robert and Elyse as well as 12 grandchildren with one great grandchild on the way. He served the U.S. Army's Signal Regiment more than 35 years, rising in the ranks from private to lieutenant general. His last assignment before retirement was Deputy Director General of NATO's Communications and Information Systems Agency in Brussels, Belgium. After retiring from the Army, he continued to work with EDS and then up to his last days with his sons and a few of his grandsons at ByLight IT Professional Services in Arlington, VA. He will be remembered for his integrity, sense of humor, compassion for others, and his love of family and friends. He touched the hearts of many and his departure will be deeply felt. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29 at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington Street, Alexandria, VA. from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial service and full military honors burial will be held at Arlington cemetery at a future date.
