Rita McCauley-Redmond, 70, Alexandria, Virginia passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday January 22, 2019. Predeceased by parents Leonard and Lorraine McCauley and sister Joanne Gronneberg. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert (Bob) Redmond of 40 years, daughter Courtney Eliot (Chris), sisters Linda Brownlee (Michael), Nancy McCauley (Donavon Switzer), and many loving nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends who remember her with love and great affection. Born in Harmony, Minnesota. She graduated from Winona State University as an active member of Delta Zeta Sorority. Rita started her career as a teacher in Random Lake, Wisconsin and later in Northern Virginia where she met her husband Bob. Her professional career included teaching high school and government contracting until she found that her love of homes and design led to a career as a successful real estate agent.
Rita was a member of the Junior Friends of the Campagna Center in Alexandria and active in her home owners association. She was a long time member of the Basilica of St. Mary.
Some of her most treasured moments were reading books under an umbrella at the beach in Dewey and Rehoboth, Delaware with family and friends. Her generosity, sense of fairness and humor were welcome gifts to her many clients and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 25th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the Demaine Funeral Home, 520 South Washington Street, Alexandria, VA. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 26th at 10:30 AM at the Basilica of St. Mary, 310 South Royal Street, Alexandria, VA.
