Obituary of Richard "Dickie" Harlan Myler

Richard Harlan Myler (Dickie), 89, of Alexandria, Virginia. passed away on August 18, 2022 at Paul Spring Retirement Home. Dickie was born in Old Washington, Ohio to Louella and Louis Myler on October 27,1932. He went to Warwood High School in Wheeling, West Virginia. He married Billie Tomlinson on November 30th, 1963 in Virginia. Dickie graduated from West Liberty State University with a Bachelors degree and received his Master`s in Physical Education at University of Virginia. He worked as a Physical Education Teacher at Paul Spring Elementary School for 30 years before retiring. He was a veteran in the Korean War and served in the Army and was a "Superstar" soccer player overseas. Dickie was an avid golfer, jokester and liked deep sea fishing. Dickie is preceded in death by his older brother, William Worley Myler. Dickie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Billie Tomlinson Myler, his brother, Harold "Tom' Myler, along with his brother-in-law, Melvin Tomlinson (Lynda). He also had two nieces, DeDe Herron (Paul) and Treena O`Connor (Edwin). Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 31st at10:00 AM, at Aldersgate Methodist Church in Alexandria, Virginia with Pastor Randy Orndorff officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Demaine Funeral Home in Alexandria, Virginia The Family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Paul Spring Retirement Home's staff and nurses for Dickie's four years of care.
