Jane Brown Perkinson passed away in Alexandria, Va. on Nov. 18, 2024, at the age of 87. She was born in Norfolk, Va., on Jan. 15, 1937. After graduating from St. Mary’s College in Raleigh, N.C., she became a stewardess for Capital Airlines, where she met and in 1960 married John Wesley Perkinson, a pilot for the carrier. The couple remained together until John passed away in 2009. In addition to Alexandria, they lived in the Chicago, Denver, and Miami areas.
A member of Alexandria’s St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and the Philanthropic Educational Organization Sisterhood, Jane was a patron of the arts and a charitable volunteer in the various communities where she lived. She was also an extensive traveler.
Jane is survived by her sons, John and Lyle; their wives, Cindy and Anne, respectively; grandchildren, Maggie and Jack; great grandson, Will; and sister-in-law, Doris.
A reception will be held at the Demaine Funeral Home in Alexandria on Sunday, December 1 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Next spring, Jane's and her husband’s ashes will be interred at Eastern Shore Chapel at Virginia Beach, Va., following a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Autism Speaks.
