For those whom did not make the funeral, it was very lovely with tears and laughter. His son-in-law Charlie, (aka Herc) spoke about Garfield stating that he actually fell in love with Garfield before his daughter, Kathy. Lea Frye also spoke as well. We were deeply touched with the professionalism of six motor officers and two cruisers from the City of Alexandria. They closed off the entire south side of route 1 and with their precision maneuvers, going from front to back of the procession to the cemetery. Upon arrival we were greeted by four motor officers, standing at attention, saluting our daddy; Cpl Duvall, as we drove by. It was an emotional surprise for all! Virginia was given the United States flag on behalf of the United States Army.
