IN THE CARE OF

Demaine Funeral Home

Our beloved Gwendolyn "Gwenna" Ihrie of Lincoln, NE, passed away after a 2-year battle with Osteosarcoma on December 8, 2022, at the Adler Care Center in Aldie, VA. Gwenna was born on September 20, 1993, to Steven Ihrie and Susan Marx in Lincoln, NE. She was 29 years of age. Gwenna graduated from Lincoln High School, where she was a talented student, athlete, singer, and writer. Gwenna was very involved at her alma mater Grinnell College (in Grinnell, IA) and received her bachelor's degree in Political Science. After graduation, she spent two years with Americorps before moving to Washington DC where she worked as a College Success Advisor for underserved populations through the non-profit SEED Foundation. While in Washington DC, she was introduced to Cliff by their mutual friend Trent. Once meeting Cliff, they quickly understood they were each others' life partners. They were married on July 29, 2022, in a small ceremony attended by their closest friends. Let us tell you a little about our beloved Gwenna... her favorite flower was the Sunflower. Her guilty pleasure was watching Bachelor with her friends. Speaking of friends, there was never a shortage of people who wanted to spend time with her every day. She loved socializing, crocheting, embroidery, and television. She was passionate about women's studies, human rights, equality, and making the world a better place for all. Her other love was her gray and white adopted kitten Lavender. Gwenna was predeceased by her grandfather Melvin Marx. She is survived by husband, Clifford Novak of Arlington, VA; her grandmother. Audrey Jean Marx of Grand Island, NE; her mother Susan Marx of Merritt Island, FL; her father Steven Ihrie of Lincoln, NE; her brother Maxwell Ihrie of Lincoln, NE; and many Aunts and Uncles who loved her dearly. Services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Gwenna desired donations be made to the Osteosarcoma Institute or your preferred cancer charity.
