Sharon Kay (Olinghouse) Thomas peacefully passed away on Monday, June 5th after a hard-fought battle with COPD. She was born March 31, 1947 in Little Rock, Arkansas and was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Burney and Georgia Olinghouse; brother Buddy Olinghouse; in-laws, Carl & Patty Thomas; stepson Jon Thomas; numerous deeply loved relatives, friends, and loved ones. She is survived by husband, Dennis Thomas; daughter, Angela Harris; granddaughter, Emma Kate Harris; stepdaughter, Jeannie Smith; stepdaughter, Amanda Hofman; and four stepgrandchildren and six step great grandchildren.
Sharon said her greatest role in life was being a mother to Angela Harris and Gigi to Emma Kate Harris. She spent many afternoons and weekends filled with belly laughs and snuggles with Emma Kate the past eight years. She said thirty-three years of marriage to her best friend and husband, Dennis K. Thomas, was filled with love, they had an unbreakable bond, and friendship.
Sharon was a graduate of Little Rock Central High School and University of Arkansas at Little Rock and began her professional career in banking and accounting in Little Rock and Dallas. She transitioned to a career with Junior Achievement spanning 37 years working primarily in development positions that took her to Honolulu, Colorado Springs, their National Headquarters, and retired as President of Junior Achievement of Arkansas. Sharon had a strong work ethic, thoroughly loved her work, was a force of nature when it came to fundraising and she loved the relationships she built throughout her career.
Her funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Pinecrest Funeral Home, 7401 AR-5, Alexander, AR 72002.
