Peggy was born May 16, 1932 in Osceola, Arkansas to Roy and Verna Ruth Brinkley, both of whom preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Holman, her brothers, Dr. Roy Brinkley, Charles Brinkley and her sister, Carolyn Brinkley. She was also preceded in death by her grandchildren, Ebby Steppach and Trevor Rossi. Lastly, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lt. Norman B. McCreary in 1958.
Peggy grew up in Oseola and Kaiser, Arkansas. Peggy was in the 1950 Miss South Mississippi County beauty pageant and competed in the Miss Arkansas Pageant. Her talent was singing and playing the piano. She loved playing the piano and organ. Up until a few years ago she was always playing the grand piano at the retirement home. You could hear her humming during the day. She also loved to sew and knit. She loved the color pink. She especially loved chocolate! She loved social media – before her sight failed her she was always on her computer or iphone. Her love of sports started as a basketball player in middle school. That love of sport, especially the Razorbacks, she passed on to her kids. She loved the Razorbacks so much she once wrote Lou Holtz a letter asking him not to leave Arkansas.
She was a perfect Southern lady. She vowed (even though she had gray hair at an early age) to never have gray hair and she succeeded! She had many different hair colors during her lifetime! At the retirement home she always put on all her makeup and fixed her hair before leaving her room and made sure all her accessories matched!
She loved her family and made Christmas and all holiday celebrations special. She was called Moppy by her grandkids. She always found a way to laugh during tough times. She will be greatly missed.
Peggy is survived by her sister – Vera Anderson; sister-in-laws Bobbye Brinkley and Betty Brinkley; her children, Karan Mactier and husband Scott(New Braunfels, TX); Janet Holman(Fayetteville, AR); Laurie Jernigan and her husband Michael(Little Rock, AR);Stephen Holman and wife Melissa(Rogers, AR); grandchildren, Spencer Mactier (Taylor), Dr. Mitchell Mactier (Dallas), Harris Steppach, Ethan Vaness, Emily Wilson and Lindsey Boeken (Hunter); great-grandchildren Hayden Rossi and soon-to-be born great-grandson Parker Boeken.
