Joann Hazel Gagen, 88, of Bryant, Arkansas, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 30, 2022. She was born February 15, 1933 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Thelma Skelton, daughter-in-law Jerri, son-in-law Michael, grandson Joey; granddaughter Jessica and great-grandson Ethan.
Joann is survived by her sister Sharon (Fred), children David, Barbara, and Cyndi, grandchildren Melisa (Patrick), Chris (Debb), Jeff (Destinie), Samantha (Graham), and Katy (Tyler), and great-grandchildren Jackson, Callie, Hudson, Cooper, Alexandra, Sawyer, Emmy, Walter, William, and Madelyn.
Joann was an active member of Midtowne Church where she loved working in the nursery rocking babies. Throughout her life, she volunteered in many organizations especially those working with children. Her favorite role, however, was as beloved Mom and Nana, and in fact became known as Nana by nearly everyone she encountered. She was happiest when holding her babies or reading a good book.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 6 at 2:00pm at Pinecrest Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Pruitt presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to Bryant House (411 Sanders Lane, Bryant, AR 72022) where she was able to live independently and happily up until her death. Donations to Bryant House will directly benefit other residents who live there, and she would have loved that.
