Martha Ray

Martha (Hamilton) Ray age 73 of Battle Creek passed away Monday, November 14, 2022. She was born February 7, 1949 in Grethel, KY the daughter of Davenport and Mary (Adams) Hamilton and they precede her in death. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Jarvey Hamilton and several half-brothers and half-sisters.

On September 21, 1963, Martha was united in marriage to Lenard Ray in Clintwood, Virginia and he survives.

Martha was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who truly had a mother’s heart.

She mothered and took care of everyone she loved. She spent her time showing her love to others, but also enjoyed fishing and was a fantastic cook. When asked about a favorite dish that she prepared, they said “everything” without hesitation. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her loving husband of 59 years, Martha also leaves 2 daughters, Bonnie Betterly and Patty Allen (Billie Tackett), 3 grandchildren: Angel Harvey, Martha Harvey and Faith Allen; 6 great-grandchildren: Christopher May, Juelze Beaty, Rosay Beaty, Lazarra Harvey, Elizabeth Harris, Alex Harris; sister, Bonnie Martin and brother, DP Hamilton both of Grethel, KY.

Martha’s family will receive visitors on Sunday, November 20th and Monday November 21st from 4-8PM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr., Albion. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 1PM with Pastor Estill Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Albion.
