Jason resided in Albion MI, for 16 years where he attended Albion/Marshall Schools. Jason had the opportunity to be one of the youth members who helped merge the Albion and Marshall school systems. Jason received his High School diploma at the age of 16 from Marshall Alternative High School.
Jason lived with his mother Lakisha in Battle Creek MI, where he worked a few restaurant jobs. He then took the initiative to begin his journey in life and moved to Kalamazoo, MI. Jason was currently employed at Pfizer where the Covid vaccine is being produced.
Jason was loved by many, he always had a smile on his face, was kind hearted, spoke gracious words, and displayed a peaceful sympathetic personality. He was always a hard worker; as a youth he enjoyed helping his grandfather by raking leaves and mowing the lawn. As a young adult, Jason spent a significant amount of time with his family. Jason took a special interest in spending time with his younger brother Kamojion on making sure his homework assignments were completed and taking him to amusement parks, air shows, and numerous other events. He enjoyed spending time with many of his family members, friends and always made time in doing so. You would have not been surprised to receive a visit, phone call, or text from him.
Jason fell asleep in death on Saturday, October 2, 2021. Jason was preceded in death by his father Marlon Byrd, grandfather Craig Byrd and maternal and paternal great grandparents.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother Lakisha Whetstone, maternal grandparents Jesse Whetstone, Karen Whetstone, paternal grandparents Gloria (Robert) Smith. Brothers: Marlon (Saffa) Byrd II, Dauvier Whetstone, Steven Hawkins II, Omarion Smith, Kamarion Smith, Kamojion Whetstone. Sisters: Paris Brown, Makiyah Brown, Ahmani Torrey. Nieces: Ariyah, Azariah, Ahmani. Nephews: Marlon III, Malik, Myles. 3 maternal Aunts, 3 Paternal Aunts, 1 maternal uncle, 3 paternal uncles, special friends and many close cousins and family friends that are like brothers and sisters.
Home Going Services will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr., Albion with visitation beginning at 11AM, family hour to start at 12PM until the time of service at 1PM. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
