Josef was born April 6, 1936 in Brestawatz, Yugoslavia to the late Georg and Rosina (Feiter) Fanz. Josef arrived at Ellis Island on April 30, 1956 and began his life in the United States.
He was a proud veteran serving in the US Army. He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, and the German Family Society. Josef loved soccer having played as a semi pro in Germany himself. He enjoyed bowling, singing, dancing and spending time with family. He was a hard worker. Having worked at Reuther Mold & Manufacturing for 42 years as a precision machinist. Always strong and brave throughout his life and always striving to be the best at everything he did. He always had a smile on his face and made everyone around him smile as well. Besides his parents, Josef is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Katharina "Vickie" Fanz.
Josef is survived by his son David Fanz, his daughter, Heidie (Patrick) Czerwony, his granddaughter Katie (Joe) Hritsko, and his grandson Jonathan Czerwony.
Friends may call 11am-12pm Saturday, May 25th at Rose Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 12 Noon with Pastor Jim Steingass, Officiant. Entombment in Rose Hill Burial Park.
