Angie passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024, at the age of 95. Angie was born and raised in the insular environment of Akron’s Italian neighborhood. She defied convention and married a handsome young Welsh protestant who quickly whisked her away to exotic foreign lands. She faced an array of cultural, linguistic and child rearing challenges while immersed in and amazed by the beauty of these lands. She coped by drawing upon her strength, adapted easily and learned quickly. From hiking the rugged New Zealand Milford Track to expertly haggling groceries in open markets.
Angie had a remarkable way of developing and nurturing enduring friendships. She was a model of efficiency and possessed superb organizational skills. As a mother and grandmother, she instilled these strengths in all of us. They have served us well and shaped our lives. None of us, however, have been able to duplicate her cheesecake.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Eldon. She will be sorely missed by her children, Jan (Kim) Schroeder, Alan (Patti) Gwyn, and Sandy (Craig) Dunlavy; and her grandson Joshua (Olivia) Gwyn.
Per her wish no service will be held with private interment. Special thanks to her “friend” Pat Varacelli, Concordia at Sumner and Elara Hospice for the care provided in her final days. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Angie’s name.
