Surrounded at home by family loving him into the next world, Chuck Petty left this life on January 6, 2021 in his 81st year, leaving behind his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Ena (Waller). Chuck was the devoted and so very proud dad to Scott (Donna), Lisa, Steve (Cheryl), Sonya (Colin), Jason (Diane), Mark (Nicole) and Melissa (Andy). His family was his life, and he was so very proud of them all. Their love and support was always available throughout the years and most especially through the last few months. Chuck was Poppa to 22 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Brother to Glen. Predeceased by an infant son, Joel; his parents Garnet and Edith; brother Ken; and sister-in-law Carol. Remembered with affection by many nieces and nephews, and his two faithful four-legged friends, Oliver and Charlie. Chuck lived his life with honesty and integrity, as well as caring and devotion to his family and many friends. He retired in 2000 after over 40 years in a successful partnership with his brother Ken at Petty’s Garage in Rockwood, where the two had continued the business upon their dad’s retirement. He was also a volunteer firefighter in Rockwood for 25 years. Chuck and Ena retired to a home on the Trent Severn Waterway in 2002 and for 13 years cruised up and down the waterways. They also traveled and spent the cold months in Florida with many dear friends. Every year in Stirling, on a long weekend, the whole family got together with tents and trailers to enjoy their yearly rendition of “Camp Chuck.” His warmth, love and sense of humour will always be remembered. The family would especially like to thank the team at Palmerston and District Hospital and Bayshore Home Care nurses for their outstanding care. We are particularly grateful to Dr. Joanna Wielgosz for her compassion, dedication, and care. The family will have a private interment. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held in May, 2021 if Covid restrictions allow. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Palmerston and District Hospital (500 Whites Road, Palmerston N0G 2P0) or a charity of your choice.
