Services celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Broadview Baptist Church 2500 S 27th St, Abilene, TX 79605 at 10:00 AM, with David Cason and Wes Terry officiating. Interment will follow in Iberis Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband. Family and friends are welcomed to gather for a visitation on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 from 6-8:00 PM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 Hwy. 277. S.
Yvonne was born on December 14, 1938 in Lubbock, Texas. She was the oldest child of Chester and Imogene (Hunt) Long. She enjoyed a wonderful and humble childhood with her younger siblings. At a young age, she met Donald Ray Jordan whom she married on October 30, 1955. This union began filled with love and devotion that lasted 46 years when he passed. During marriage, Yvonne moved several times following her husband’s military career. The family finally settled in Abilene where they established roots. Yvonne devoted herself to her family, taking care of her husband and two children. She was not only a great homemaker but actively involved in the lives of her children. She served as a Girl Scout Leader with her daughter, Kathy, and Cub Scout Leader with her son, Don. However her life only got better when her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along. Above all Yvonne’s love for Jesus remained at the forefront of all she did. She was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she was actively involved and taught Sunday school. She went on to become a member of Broadview Baptist Church where she was also active. She was devoted to reading the Bible and studying Gods Word. She had read the bible many times through. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and traveling. She will be remembered as a true Christian women, strong family matriarch, and loyal friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Donald Ray Jordan; and sisters, Ylovia White, and Jeanne Goad; her brothers, Hugh and Bill Long.
She leaves to cherish precious memories her son, Don Jordan and his wife, Pam of Austin; daughter, Kathy Lomax of Abilene; grandchildren, Courtney Flores and her husband, Mic, Amber Barber and her husband, Jason, Bayler Jordan, Case Jordan, Marcus Galvan, Jonathon Lomax, Freddie Galvan, Elias Galvan, Stevie Galvan, Danielle Galvan, and Victoria Galvan; great-grandchildren, Eve, Eden and Elijah Flores, Antonio Galvan, and Ciana Lopez; her siblings, Lois Reilly, Audrey Womack, Judy Hancock, and James Long and his wife, Sue; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial Contributions in her name can be made to Alzheimer’s research.
