Virginia Ruth Anderson, 90, left this world to reach her final destination at her heavenly home on Monday, July 1, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 1:30p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 S. with Rev. Donny Harbers of Wylie Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South, Abilene. Serving as pallbearers will be the grandsons and nephews.
Virginia was born in Idalou, Texas on February 16, 1923 to John Ellis Moore, Sr. and Emma Caroline Ellis. She attended elementary school at Circle Back, TX; high school at Sudan, TX and Wayland Baptist College at Plainview, TX.
She married John E. Anderson on July 3, 1943 in Atlanta, GA. They lived in Japan, Germany, and Holland during his tenure in the U.S. Army. When he retired in 1960, they moved to Abilene. She was a member of Wylie Baptist Church. Her children and grandchildren were the focus of her life and she played an influential role in their lives.
She is preceded in death by her mother in 1925; her parents, Minnie and J.E. Moore, Sr.; brother, J.E. Moore, Jr.; sisters, Wanda Fay Moore and Mary B. Obenaus; and sons, Bruce and Darrell Anderson.
Survivors include her son, Dennis R. Anderson and wife, Ann of Abilene; daughter-in-law, Priscilla Anderson of Corpus Christi; grandsons, Dennis Ray Anderson and wife, Teresa of Corpus Christi, James Anderson and wife, Misty of Lexington; and Bruce E. Anderson of Abilene; granddaughter, Lori Anderson of Abilene; sister-in-law, Imogene Moore of Abilene; brother, M. Jack Moore and wife, JoAnn of Alvarado, TX; sister, Chris Bradshaw and husband, Bill of Abilene; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff at Wisteria Care Center who so lovingly took care of her needs and to Hospice who made her last days more comfortable.
