Terry was born in Dallas, Texas on June 27, 1960 to George and Martha Uland. She graduated from Bryan Adams High School in Dallas, Texas and then attended Texas A&M University and Eastern Washington University earning a degree in business management. She met and married her forever boyfriend, Paul at Texas A&M in 1981 and together, they began a 25-year Air Force adventure. During this time, she took great joy in being a military wife and immersed herself in their military life. Each new base was a new adventure for Terry to create a home and build new relationships around them that will forever be family. Besides making the sacrifices of a military spouse, Terry worked as a realtor, substitute teacher, dog-walker in Alexandria, VA; legal secretary, fancy gift wrapper, restaurant server, and fundraiser for Goodwill/Easter Seals, of Kansas to name a few. Ultimately, in May 1999, she took her beloved mom's advice and realized her life-long dream of journalism/broadcasting by becoming Terry Diamond, the mid-day girl on KBCY for over 24 years! Also, during that time and until her death, she devoted much of her time to helping non-profit organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Go Red for Women, Wylie Education Foundation, Dyess Scholarship committee, Animal Humane Societies, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Dyess Airmen Home Away from Home, and Fundraiser and supporter of Abilene Christian Schools. In 2014, she was chosen as a Cattle Baron's Co-Chair and subsequently became an advisor for the Abilene American Cancer Society. Most of all, she was a beacon of faith and counsel to so many people. Her biggest joy happened in 2000 when she became a mom to Thomas after 19 years of marriage. It was on that day that she finally realized her purpose. To raise an extraordinary Godly man with the love of her life. She will be eternally grateful to be chosen to be Thomas' mom.
She is survived by her husband of over 42 years, Paul; her loving son, Thomas and her beloved daughter-in-law, Bailey; sister, Patty and family of Dallas; Cousin, David Hale and family of Dallas; Cousin, Rob Hale and wife, Trudy and family of Plano.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mom, Martha Uland; grandparents, T.O. and Clota Mashburn of Dallas; aunts and uncles.
She will be forever grateful for the community who have supported and encouraged so faithfully throughout this cancer journey and especially for beloved friends who feel like family. Terry would like to thank Dr. Melnyk and staff, especially the infusion nurses, at Texas Oncology and Dr. Valero and his staff at M.D. Anderson in Houston for helping her in her cancer battle. She treasured her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, most of all.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Abilene chapter of the American Cancer Society (ACS Cattle Barons Ball, 2438 Industrial Blvd #143, Abilene, Texas 79605) or Rescue the Animals.
