Sue was born on April 19, 1933 in Abilene the oldest of eight children born to the late Emzy and Nova (Rister) Faulks. She grew up in the great depression and learned the value of hard work at an early age helping out on cotton farms in the Hawley area. She attended school in Hawley and graduated in 1951.
Five days after graduating she got her first job at the Timex Watch Factory. She met Kenneth Barron while he was home on leave from the military. She waited a whole year for him to come back home and the two were married on March 5, 1954. Together they had three girls, Shirley Gail, June Marie, and Lesa Diane. After being married she worked at Furr’s Meat Market for a short period of time. Her greatest job was being wife and mother. She was a wonderful homemaker and had a warm nurturing spirit. She was an excellent cook, always preparing delicious meals. She loved to Quilt and even taught some of her grandchildren how to quilt.
At the age of 12 years’ old something beautiful happened. She was saved and then baptized at age 15. Her faith was of utmost importance to her. Her walk with the Lord and being a servant to him and others was the main focus of her life. She had been a member of several churches through the years to include Hodges Baptist Church and currently was a member of Victory Baptist Church. She was always thankful for the many good Pastors that she had been privileged to have through the years. Before her husband’s passing she enjoyed garage selling with him and camping, spending time with all her family and making special memories. She enjoyed life and was very vibrant she glowed from the inside out. Life only got better when grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along.
Our sweet Nanny will be remembered in her own words, “I love the lord with all my heart and soul. I love people.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Barron; 2 loving daughters, Shirley Gail Barron in 2008, and Lesa Diane Barron in 2015; brothers, Larry Bob Faulks and Tommy Emzy Faulks.
