A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Wylie Baptist Church 6097 Buffalo Gap Rd, Abilene, TX 79606 with Pastor Mike Harkrider officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5-7:00 PM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701Hwy. 277 S. in Abilene.
Robbie was born on September 21, 1965 the youngest of three boys born to Rev. Willis Neil Rogers and Bennie (Houston) Rogers in Colorado City, TX. The family moved to Sweetwater and then to Irving where he was raised. It was during his childhood that his unique sense of humor blossomed and being the youngest his determination and independence did as well. He went on to graduate from Nimitz High School in Irving. After high school, he attended Tyler Junior College where he obtained his certification in electrical service. He began his career working with several companies before starting his own. He owned R & D Electrical Services where he served both commercial and residential clients. He gained much fulfillment in his profession he took pride in his work. After suffering, a debilitating injury that confined him to a wheelchair his vast knowledge of the industry and attention to detail caused him to be sought out for consultant work on many jobs. He eventually moved back to Abilene to assist his mother. Being the son on a Pastor, he was raised in the church and attended where his father pastored spending most of his time at Calvary Baptist in Irving and then attended Plymouth Park. Once he relocated, back to Abilene he became a member of Wylie Baptist Church. He was a devoted Christian, Cowboy and Rangers fan. He always loved his Border Collies.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Willis Neil Rogers; his brother, Samuel Mark Rogers; paternal grandparents, Bill and Ruth Rogers; maternal grandparents, Sam and Lillian Houston; nephew, Joseph David Rogers; aunts, Julia McGehee, Mae Lantrip, Carlita Kinard, Elaine Deathrage; and his uncle, Sam Houston, Jr.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Bennie Rogers; his brother, Gary Neil Rogers, Sr.; nephew, Gary Neil Rogers, Jr., his aunt, Pat Holloway; and a good friend of the family Robert Legatè; his dear canine friend, Yeager; and numerous cousins, and special friends from Irving.
