A humble, kind, and jovial man, he was respected and loved by everyone who truly knew him. He epitomized living life with valor and to the fullest. At 66 years old, he was a sports enthusiast-the Cowboys were his favorite team. As a young man Robert played basketball, baseball, and football, excelling in football while he played for Abilene High School as well as Ranger Jr. College for a short stint. At a young age he joined the North 10th & Treadaway Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Idella James; father, Ruben James, Sr.; three brothers, Ruben James, II, Bobby James and Joe James; a sister, Sandra James Grubbs.
He leaves behind a daughter, Tamara Shae James; four sisters, Doris James Dansby, of Shreveport, LA, Margaret Ferguson of Abilene, Mary James Dansby of Abilene, Annette James Bell of Fort Worth; brothers, Dewayne James of Syracuse, NY, Edward James of Abilene, and Timothy James of Abilene; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins as well.
Robert's zest for life, his humor, and his valor are his legacies that have been left for all of us.
