Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021, from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy. 277 S. in Abilene. Graveside service will be held at Elmwood Memorial Park at 10:00 AM, where he will be laid to rest with his wife of 64 years.
Born March 18, 1935, to Charles and Lydia (Childress) Rose, in small town McClure, Virginia. Bobby enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 19 and honorably served his country for 23 years. In 1975 he retired and turned his love for woodworking into a business. He was known for his craftsmanship and traditional custom cabinetry. Bobby believed in discipline, hard work, and keeping your word. He was easily recognized around town for his bright orange 1952 Ford pickup and mini MG convertible which he proudly drove in the local Veteran's Day parades. The Rose family moved to Abilene in 1967.
Bobby married the love of his life, Teresa Salas on March 23, 1956, in El Paso, Texas. Together they raised six children, twelve grandchildren, Monika, Cynthia, Ashley, Katlyn, Shannon, Steven, Jimmy, John, Mark, Matthew, Jeremy and Grace; and one great grandchild Zariya. He is survived by daughters, Linda Gurerro and her husband Manuel, Kathy Rose Prentiss and her husband Jack; son Allen Rose and wife Toni. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Teresa Rose; his son, Larry Rose; his brothers, Clyde, Vick, Lloyd, Allen and Reed Rose; and his sisters, Esther Fleming, and Eslie Hill.
