Lydia G. Rodriguez, 74, went to be with the Lord today, May 30, 2015, with her family by her side. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene, with Reverend Sherry Lyle officiating. Burial will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Lydia was born September 18, 1940 to Felix and Elena Arigo in Brownsville, Texas and moved to Abilene from Pharr, Texas in 1951. Lydia married Daniel G. Lopez on January 16, 1956; they shared 46 wonderful years together and had seven kids and she stayed at home to raise them. From 1975 to 1990 for 15 years, she worked for Frances Beauty Salon. Lydia found the Lord and became a minister, now 30 plus years. She devoted her life to spread the word of the Lord through the radio, traveling to different churches, and going to homes. Lydia married Maximo Rodriguez, whom she loved very much, on April 26, 2008.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Daniel G. Lopez; and her Mom and Dad.
Survivors include her husband, Maximo Rodriguez, of Abilene; sons, Daniel (Herlinda) Lopez, Jr., Felix (Cathy) Lopez, and Joshua (Crystal) Lopez, of Abilene; daughters, Sylvia Rodriguez, Erlinda (Mauro) Gonzales, Sista (Chuck) Lewis, Janie Sanchez, and Mary Helen Lopez, of Abilene; a granddaughter, whom she raised, Lydia Ramirez, of Abilene; twenty-one grandchildren; fifty-five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Holguin, Mauro Gonzales II, Daniel Joseph Sanchez, Joshua Lopez, Ruben Gonzales, and Angel O’Con.
