Services celebrating her life and faith will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 S. Abilene, Texas 79606 with her grandson, Zac Allen as the officiating minister. A private family burial will take place at Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Codie was born in Mitchell County, Texas to the late Marvin and Vera (Kitchens) Ballard, joining her two brothers, C.L. and Burl, Codie was their joy. She graduated from Colorado City High School where she was a cheerleader.
Codie married her true love, Roy “Hoss” Allen and they celebrated their 75th anniversary August 2, 2022. They had two sons, Randy and Mark Allen. Together they enjoyed many years following their sons sporting events making lifelong friends along the way.
Codie and Hoss loved to travel crisscrossing the USA with friends in their motorhome. She was an excellent cook having written her own cookbook and loved to entertain friends and family. She had a wonderful gift of decorating and putting her personal flair on everything she touched.
She was a member of the Philharmonic Guild and former Ball Chairman, 20th Century Study Club, and the Abilene Mother’s Study Club. Codie loved her Lord and Savior most and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Codie is preceded in death by her parents and brothers. She is survived by her husband, Hoss; her sons, Randy Allen (Carolyn) of Dallas, TX and Mark Allen(Michelle) of Graham, TX; her grandchildren, Zac Allen (Jennie), Ashley Flowers(Pete), Lane Allen, Jake Allen(Courtney) Matt Allen, Hubbell Allen(Larissa); 14 great-grandchildren, Conner, Kate, Caroline and Cooper Allen, Paul, Carolyn Codie, James and Drew Flowers, Sadie, Hannah, Luke Charlotte, Emery Jo and Laurel Allen; and her sister-in-law, Francene Noah of Snyder, TX.
