Charles Easton Boyd, known as “Big Daddy,” to his family, went to be with our Lord and Savior peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 88 on July 9th, 2022, at his home in Shep, Texas. He was dearly loved by all and will be missed greatly.
A graveside service will be held Friday, July 22, 10:00 AM at the Shep Cemetery in Shep, Texas.
Charles was born on January 25th, 1934, and was the eldest son of Troy E. Boyd and Adolphine E. Zips, who predeceased him in death. He grew up in Shep and Happy Valley. Charles started out in school in Happy Valley and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1952. After school, He served honorably in the United States Army, and upon returning from duty, married his beloved wife of 66 years, Melba Ballard. Together they had two sons, David, and Royce Boyd. Charles went to college for a Business Degree, and he was employed by AMPI for 20 years until his retirement. moving forward, he was a local farmer who loved to be out working on the land, tending to his garden, goats, grandkids, and great grandkids. Charles was a leader in the Shep Church of Christ and a pillar of the Shep community. He loved to go fishing and to play the guitar; he would often sing of his home in happy valley and life on the farm in Shep. He loved his Lord and Savior, his family, and his community and did anything for all.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Melba Ballard of Shep, Texas; sons, David Boyd and his wife, Tina of Shep, Texas; Royce Boyd and his wife, Melody of Shep, Texas; grandchildren, Brandon Boyd and Michelle of Natalia, Texas; Jennifer and Angel Solis of Shep, Texas; Mindy and Chad Mahon of San Angelo, Texas; Chris Boyd of Blackwell, Texas; 12 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Millie, and David Smith; brothers, Ernest, Mack, and Don and their families.
