Betty Jo Walker

Betty Jo Walker, 87, went to be with her heavenly Father on April 7, 2013. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Walker was born August 11, 1925 to parents, Brooks and Nell Chambers in Merkel, Texas. She moved to Lubbock as a child where she met and married her husband, Ace Walker in 1944. Betty was the loving, devoted wife of Ace, who preceded her home in 2000.

Betty faithfully served as the Office Manager for the late Dr. A.G. Arrant for 17 years. She was a longtime member of Southwest Park Baptist Church, Faith Bible Class, and Bridge Builders.

She leaves her legacy to her son, Larry Walker and wife, Kim of Flower Mound; her daughter, Linda Walker of Abilene; grandchildren, Aaron Walker and spouse, Melissa; Jacquelyn Ochoa and spouse, Danny, Travis Walker, and Austin Walker. Betty was also blessed with two great-granddaughters, Ariana and Amelie Ochoa. She is also survived by her sister, Bessie Moore of Abilene and several nieces and nephews.
