Anne Fulson Venable, 90, formerly of Abilene, passed away Friday, October 26, 2012, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2012, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene, with Mike Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
Anne was born April 25, 1922 in Dallas, TX to the late Charles H. Fulson and Cornelia Elizabeth Richardson. She was a 1940 graduate of Neville High School and went on to attend Northeast Junior College in Monroe, LA and graduated in 1942.
Anne married Edward E. Venable on October 4, 1944 in Monroe, LA and came to Abilene, Texas in 1957 after her husband transferred to Dyess, AFB. She was employed by the City of Abilene Fire Marshall’s Office for 21 years. Anne’s husband passed away in 1986 and she remained a resident of Abilene until October of 2004, when she moved to Corpus Christi to be near her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; and two grandsons.
Survivors include her son Charles E. Venable and wife, Sarah of Big Canoe, GA; two daughters, Susan Finlay and husband, Terry of Corpus Christi, TX and Sally Foster and husband, Rick of Bella Vista, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Brian Venable of Canton, GA, Matthew Venable of Cumming, GA, Duane Ford of Lewisville, TX, Amy Ford of Grapevine, TX, Elizabeth Battista and husband, Mark of Burkburnett, TX; and Melissa Hughey of Amarillo, TX; eight great-grandchildren, Dalton and Shelby Peters of Burkburnett, TX, Hayden, Logan, and Bryce Venable of Canton, GA, Lance Venable of Cumming, GA, Gabe Ford of Grapevine, TX and Keagan Hughey of Amarillo, TX; and one nephew, David Fulson of Ft. Worth, TX.
