Andrew, fondly known as A L, was born to Andrew Lee Deatherage Sr. and Freda O’Nita Harendt on June 2, 1951 in Abilene, Texas. He graduated from Abilene High School. Andrew was employed at Meads Bakery at the early age of 16 where he worked as a maintenance engineer for several years. Following the attendance of several law enforcement and judicial trainings, he then joined Taylor County Sheriff's Department as a Deputy Sheriff for 10 years. He then served his community as a Justice of the Peace for Precinct. 1, Place 2 until his retirement in 2013.
Andrew was preceded in death by his parents; Andrew Lee Deatherage Sr. and Freda O’Nita Harendt; brothers, Jerry Don Deatherage, Riley Deatherage and sister, Jane Elms.
Andrew is survived by his wife Kathy Deatherage; children, Amy Allen and husband Josh, Andrew Deatherage III (Andy) and wife Tara, and Angela Deatherage; 5 grandchildren, Jace Allen and wife Ali, Jakob Allen, Jaten Allen, Allie Allen, and Emery Deatherage; great granddaughter, Scotty Jo Allen; siblings, Ken Deatherage, Martha Murray, Math Deatherage (Jan), sister-in-law, Carol Deatherage and brother-in law Joe Hazlewood (Mary); and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday July 27, 2023 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home with Janice Six officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Round Mound Cemetery in Hamby, Texas. Services are under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
