Bobbie was born in Matewan, West Virginia on July 8, 1932. She was a resilient & determined young woman with a sharp sense of humor. In her teens, she worked in her mother’s general store. One day, Robert Ball, her Prince charming, came in for some new shoelaces and as they say, the rest is history. From that point on he called her his “1932 Model.” Mom & Dad married each other in Delbarton, West Virginia, a short while later and had two children, Glenn & Gail.
As a couple, they were affectionately known as Bob and Bobbie. After several deployments and many relocation orders they settled in Abilene, Texas after being stationed at Dyess Air Force Base. Robert and Bobbie were joyfully married for 62 years.
Bobbie has been a faithful member of Broadview Baptist church for many years. She accepted Jesus into her heart when she was younger in West Virginia and was baptized along with her husband and son at University Baptist Church.
She never met a stranger and was always willing and ready to help anyone in need. Because of her, we have all learned to never judge a book by its cover and above all, to have a servant’s heart. Bobbie loved to garden, work in her flowerbeds and backyard, shell pecans from her pecan trees for gifts and make elaborate meals with family. Even at 91 she enjoyed getting into the cool pool on a hot summer day. She was insistent on Sunday family lunches after church at her house for decades to build family memories. Her favorite vacation spot was Vero Beach. She loved to help others, give gifts, and be the servant the Lord teaches us to be in the Bible. She was most happy when she was with her family eating homemade vanilla ice cream and watching her six great-grandchildren play.
