Vernetta Mary Stowell

December 26, 1927 - May 2, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, grandma, great grandma (affectionatly know as Grandma Neta) and aunty. Her family was her pride and joy and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Neta was pre- deceased by loving husband Raymond and is survived by four daughters Gail (Gary), Cathy (Dale), Jacquie (Robert) Margo (Nigel), five grandchildren Devin, Kyle, Josh, Galen, Jade, and fifteen great grandchildren.

Neta worked as a psychiatric nurse for almost fifty years making a difference in many lives. She was born in in Drumheller (AB), and spent many years in Ponoka (AB), working and raising her family. Her life in Abbotsford has spanned the last 40 years where she formed many friendships. She was active in many organizations contributing her time to the Legions youth and bursaries committee and the Abbotsford Eagles woman’s auxiliary.

Neta loved spending time in Birch Bay, a favorite part of her life where she was able to spend so much time with her grandchildren at the beach…and as years passed, she formed many friendships there, which meant a lot to her. She loved to travel and had great times, especially visiting Scotland with her companion John, who will miss her greatly.

Neta was described with the following words, as this was our Mom. Determined, Spirited, Dedicated, Compassionate, Direct, Loving and Loved…

A Celebration of life will take place in the future.
