It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Imelda Simon Johanson, who left us peacefully on March 4, 2025, at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital in Abbotsford, British Columbia. She was 56 years old. Imelda was born on December 8, 1968, in Aurora, Isabella, Philippines, to Linda and Ernesto Jimenez.
Imelda was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, and sister. She leaves behind two daughters, Mary (26) and Shery (30), who were her pride and joy. Imelda's love for her family was boundless, and her strongest bonds were with her daughters, husband Dirk, her parents, and her grandson Eli. She was a fierce fighter in every sense of the word, battling cancer for nearly two years with strength and courage that inspired all who knew her.
Imelda grew up in the Philippines. She immigrated to Canada where she was a compassionate care-aid worker for over 25 years, Imelda dedicated her life to helping others. Her caring soul, kind heart, and unwavering work ethic left a lasting impact on those she cared for. She was known for her bravery and her ability to face challenges head-on, always with a smile and a kind word. Imelda's warmth and generosity were felt by everyone around her, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed enough to know her.
Imelda had a deep love for her faith and enjoyed attending church to hear the word of God. She cherished the simple pleasures in life, including her morning coffees at Tim Hortons, spending time in nature, and camping. Red roses were her favorite flowers, and she loved the color black. Her favorite song, Amazing Grace, resonated deeply with her and reflected her strength and grace throughout her life.
Imelda’s legacy as a strong, inspiring woman who fought hard and loved unconditionally will be remembered forever.
Imelda will be deeply missed, but her love, strength, and kind heart will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A visitation for Imelda will be held Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Henderson's Fraser Valley Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford, BC V2S1M1.
