George Wilson Fraser died peacefully on July 22, 2018 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his son, Tony, his daughter Debra (Rick), granddaughters Jennifer, Melanie, Miranda (Mike), Iris (Ray) and 9 great grandchildren.
George was born August 29, 1929 in Chilliwack, BC. In the latter part of WWII he joined the Merchant Marines and continued to sail for 21 years visiting over 70 countries. Montreal became home port once marrying his wife Sylvia in 1951.
George and his family moved to Abbotsford in 1966 where he worked as a painting contractor while continuing to travel. He revisited countries from his years as a seaman as well as discovering new locations to explore.
After retiring, George and Sylvia enjoyed their walks around Mill Lake where they made many new friends. George continued these walks after the death of Sylvia in 2012.
George was a life-long social activist. He enjoyed writing and sharing his stories about his childhood and life at sea. George and Sylvia will now be spending eternity sailing the seas together.
