Abe S. Neufeld

In 1943 the family was sent to Poland and then to West Germany. Relatives in Canada were willing to sponsor them as immigrants and in 1948 they arrived in Abbotsford. Abe greatly appreciated the opportunities to live in freedom and safety.

Abe opened a small shoe repair shop on Montrose Avenue and began to sell men’s shoes and boots. The business grew and was relocated to larger facilities. Midway Shoes became a well known and popular place to shop for shoes for the whole family.

Abe is survived by his brother Henry (Hilde) and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 11:00 am at Maclure Road Mennonite Cemetery.

A funeral service will be held at on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 1:30 pm at the Eben Ezer Mennonite Church with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the M.C.C. or World Vision.
