Let’s celebrate life
The Mortuary Chapel seats up to 300 guests in a traditional setting with pews. Modern audio and visual equipment allow families to play videos or slideshows during the memorial service—and we are happy to create such a tribute for you.
Whether you prefer a small, intimate gathering or a large catered event, it’s our honor to help you arrange a celebration that reflects the personality and passions of your loved one.
The dedicated funeral directors at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary can find inspiration almost anywhere—a favorite song, hobby or even an iconic style—and turn that inspiration into a funeral service filled with thoughtful and meaningful details. A celebration could include a passion for hiking or a love of cooking for family and friends. There are few limits to the special tributes we can create.
Cremation services
We specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our transparent pricing. With expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none.
More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:
- a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
- a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
- a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.
For those who wish for a more momentous memorial, Neptune Memorial Reef is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.
There are many options for cremation—and they're not all equal. Here's what you can expect when you choose us for your loved one's cremation:
- Custody of care guaranteed. Our custody-of-care program helps safeguard the identification of your loved one from the time we bring them into our care until the time we return them to your family. We check, cross-check and check again, every step of the way.
- Exclusive custody of your loved one. We use only crematories owned and operated by Dignity Memorial® providers or trusted partners. Once your loved one is in our custody or that of a trusted partner, they’re in our care until they’re returned to your family.
- Licensed, certified, conscientious staff. All Dignity Memorial crematory operators are licensed and certified by Cremation Association of North America, or CANA. Only one person at a time is cremated, and the cremation chamber is thoroughly cleaned before the next person is cremated.

History
Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, founded by Stephen L. Richards, has been a part of the Salt Lake City community since 1912. Stephen envisioned a place “where serenity and peace of nature enshrine the tender memories of those we love.” Stephen’s wisdom has guided Wasatch Lawn into what it is today.
Wasatch Lawn Mortuary was added to the cemetery property in 1987. As members of the Dignity Memorial® network, the funeral home and cemetery give you not only the warm, familiar attention you expect from locally operated businesses but also the value you deserve.
Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park cemetery
The 65-acre Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park opened in 1912. With views of the Wasatch Mountains, it is a peaceful final resting place and a tranquil setting for remembrance and reflection.
Numerous mature trees provide shade on hot days and produce magnificent displays of orange, gold and red come fall. The well-landscaped cemetery also features lovely annual blooming flowers, nature gardens, impressive sculptures and several water features—all of which make for wonderful spots to sit for a bit.
Burial and memorialization options
A walk down 1 of our winding paths showcases a wide range of burial, entombment and cremation memorialization options. In addition to in-ground burial, we also offer outdoor mausoleum complexes, columbaria, crypts, cremation niches and benches, and private and semiprivate estates.
Our cremation garden is one of the few in all of Utah. Veterans are honored in a section that features a black granite mausoleum topped with flags for all branches of the military. Our newest cemetery section, Monument Park, is unique from rest of the cemetery. It allows for upright grave markers, whereas the rest of the cemetery has flat markers.
Light-filled mausoleums
Our 2 indoor mausoleums, Garden of the Lilies and Everlasting Garden, are A-frame structures with lots of glass to let in beautiful natural light. Comfortable seating in the mausoleums allows friends and family to take a moment to remember loved ones. The mausoleums also feature glass-front niches, which can be personalized with photographs, mementos and flowers.
Garden of the Lilies Mausoleum has a chapel that accommodates about 50 people for a committal service or a catered event.
Please come visit
Photos convey a lot, but we invite you to see Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park for yourself. You are welcome to visit the cemetery property anytime or call us to set up a guided tour.
Events for the Salt Lake City community
We extend an open invitation to you and your family for our annual community events.
Our Memorial Day service honors those who have given their lives in service to our country. Guests to this annual weekend-long event are treated to wandering bagpipers, a flag raising by Honor Guard members, speeches from local officials and the military, refreshments and face painters.
During our non-denominational luminary event in December, we celebrate the lives of those we’ve lost throughout the year and gain a sense of peace from the healing power of community. Guests to this event tour the cemetery gardens to see 10,000 lighted luminaries blanketing the lawns. Following the tour, we invite those who have suffered losses to hang ornaments on our Tree of Remembrance in honor of their loved ones.
We honor veterans
Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park understands the unique needs of America’s veterans and their families. As a Level Four Founding Community Partner with We Honor Veterans, our staff is knowledgeable in the benefits available to veterans and their families. With respect, integrity and dignity, we will walk you through the steps of creating a veteran's memorial service that truly honors the life and sacrifice of your loved one.
Wasatch Lawn Mortuary supports veterans, public servants and their families. We participate in the Homeless Veterans Burial Program, founded in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, local medical examiners, coroners, veterans advocates, and veterans organizations on the belief that every veteran deserves a dignified and honorable burial. Through the program, homeless and indigent veterans who have no family to claim them are identified and provided with proper military burials.
Through the Public Servants Program, we offer no-cost funeral services for career and volunteer law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency services personnel who die in the line of duty. The program also offers extended counseling services to family members, as well as the opportunity to create an internet tribute as a loving memorial.
