About

Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens provides burial options for people in the Concho Valley, working with families from Vancourt to Bronte. The team at the beautifully groomed San Angelo cemetery believes in treating all of the families who come to us with dignity and respect. We serve all ethnicities and faith backgrounds and work closely with veterans organizations to honor those who have served our country.

Range of burial options

Veterans section at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens Burial options at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens include traditional in-ground burial and above-ground entombment. Family estates give future generations a central place to gather in remembrance. For those who choose cremation, we also offer a columbarium.

Of the more than 20 gardens, two are dedicated to those who served our community: Veterans Field of Honor (which pays tribute to U.S. servicemen and servicewomen and their spouses) and the Last Alarm Garden (which honors members of the San Angelo Fire Department). The Last Alarm Garden was dedicated on September 11, 2002—the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in New York City.

On-site crematory

Not everyone knows that there are many cremation options. If you are interested in cremation, the Johnson's Lawnhaven team can explain the process and different options. From a direct cremation without a memorial service or a witness cremation to a full funeral service before or after the cremation and more, we help you understand this increasingly common choice—and handle all of the cremation arrangements at our on-site crematory.

History

In the late 1940s, Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens began providing cemetery services in San Angelo. The first interment at Lawnhaven was conducted on December 27, 1948, under the direction of San Angelo’s Cox Funeral Home. Cox Funeral Home later became Johnson’s Funeral Home, our co-provider of funeral arrangements in San Angelo.

Cemetery garden additions

As the cemetery grew in tandem with the city, the grounds were developed with multiple gardens. A community mausoleum was constructed, featuring 140 single memorials, 36 tandem companion memorials and 58 niches. The first entombment in the mausoleum was conducted on December 24, 1958. In response to increasing interest in cremation, Johnson's Lawnhaven constructed a crematory, a columbarium with 80 niches and a cremation garden. Our first cremation took place on April 6, 1999.

A modern property

Today, Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens encompasses more than 20 gardens, with additional development planned. We are honored to continue to serve San Angelo for generations to come.
