Our mission at Oshawa Funeral Home is to help families create personalized funerals and memorials. This approach keeps us open to traditional religious rites as well as contemporary gatherings that deeply reflect a person's life. That means that whether you want a basic cremation with cremated remains scattered in a personally meaningful place, a funeral in our cozy chapel with cemetery burial nearby, or a modern celebration of life with live music, favorite foods and a send-off that expresses the passions of yourself or your loved one, we are happy to deliver.

Cremation services

Not everyone knows that there are many cremation options. If you are interested in cremation, the funeral home team can explain the process and different options. From a direct cremation without a memorial service or a witness cremation to a full funeral service before or after the cremation and more, we help you understand this increasingly common choice—and handle all of the cremation arrangements.

Your hometown funeral home

With most of the staff at Oshawa Funeral Home living in the Oshawa area and working here for their entire careers, the funeral home is more than just a funeral home. We are family and friends to the thousands of families that we've cared for over the past 20 years. History

After many years of providing funeral services to the Oshawa/Whitby communities, in 1997, the opportunity came for Guy May, Bob Amos and Sprague Furey to open Oshawa Funeral Home, a new facility specifically designed to provide traditional memorial services to friends and neighbours. Since that time, we have built a highly experienced and capable team of funeral service professionals and support staff. In 2006, we became a member of the Dignity Memorial® network. Guy, Bob and Sprague have remained with Oshawa Funeral Home and are still active in day-to-day operations.

In June 2015, Ronald Raaphorst took over as managing funeral director. Ron and the Care Team at Oshawa Funeral Home—together with the experience and guidance of Guy, Bob and Sprague—continue the tradition of support and understanding that was the basis upon which Oshawa Funeral Home was founded. Oshawa involvement

The management and staff at Oshawa Funeral Home are very involved in the community. They coach sports teams, sing in choirs, participate in the Kiwanis, are members of Oshawa churches, sing at retirement and nursing homes as part of the Oshawa Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society and participate in many other activities and events. The funeral home supports charities such as the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Diabetes Foundation. Although our 1947 Cadillac funeral coach is no longer used for funeral services, we take it to car shows and events throughout the year. See MoreSee Less
