History

Burcham Tobias Funeral Home in Fairborn, Ohio, has a long reputation for serving families with their funeral and cremation needs. We consider it an honor to serve the Greene County community.

Our funeral care begins

The history of Burcham Tobias Funeral Home began in 1959 when Warren K. Burcham purchased a small, white house on Main Street in Fairborn, Ohio. This house soon became Warren K. Burcham Funeral Home. The original house was in Osborn, Ohio, and the 2 villages of Fairfield and Osborn merged in 1950 after the Great Dayton Flood of 1913, which forced Osborn to move out of a flood plain alongside Fairfield.

Family tradition in Fairborn

Warren and his wife, Frances, served Fairborn residents until Warren’s untimely death in 1985, after a brief battle with cancer. After Warren passed, Frances felt she could only sell the funeral home to a family member. At the time, her nephew, Skip, was part owner of Littleton Funeral Home in Springfield, Ohio, when Frances asked him to purchase the business. See MoreSee Less

Skip sold his portion of Littleton Funeral Home to his good friend, Tom Rue, and came back to Fairborn. When Skip returned, he changed the name to Burcham Funeral Home. For the next 30 years, Skip served families in our area. Meanwhile, Frances is still living and resides in Sarasota, Florida. She still keeps in contact with several past employees as well. Changing with the times

Over the years, the funeral home would undergo many changes, including a major remodel in 2003. Later in 2010, a former apprentice to Skip, Kevin Jennings, assumed the role as manager, and the funeral home changed names to Burcham Jennings Funeral Home from 2010 to 2016. See MoreSee Less

On March 16, 2016, Skip Burcham passed away at the age of 67. The following year, 2 Miami Valley traditions combined to form Burcham Tobias Funeral Home, and in April 2017, the funeral home experienced another renovation. See MoreSee Less
