History

Since 1910, Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park has provided elegant burial and memorial options for the people of Greater Omaha. Families have many interment choices at this beautiful cemetery, including the Westlawn Mausoleum. Built between 1913 and 1915, the Classic Revival and Greco-Roman building was designed by the same architect who drafted the plans for the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. See MoreSee Less

On May 30, 1929, the Heroism Memorial was erected at the cemetery in honor of 2 young boys who saved their mother from a fire. Omaha schoolchildren collected pennies to pay for the monument.

Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park cemetery

Spread over 180 beautiful acres, the cemetery features rolling green lawns and lush gardens with flat markers and fountains. Interment choices at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park include traditional ground burial, lawn crypts, mausoleum entombment and cremation options, such as niche and burial placements. Newly opened in 2019, private family hedge estates near the historic Westlawn Mausoleum give families the opportunity to create a multigeneration memorial.

Singing Tower

Built in the Art Deco style in 1931, the Singing Tower is modeled after Bok Tower in Lake Wales, Florida. The tower sits atop a landscaped hill, on the highest elevation point in town, providing sweeping views of Omaha. Surrounded by oak and maple trees, the park-like location is ideal for the cemetery’s 8-phase cremation garden.

Garden of Valor

The cemetery opened the Garden of Valor in 2009 as a tribute to all branches of the military. The garden is surrounded by cremation benches and emblems honoring the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and National Guard.

Flower placement

Ongoing maintenance of the cemetery property is a top priority. We constantly strive to make sure the grounds are well appointed and maintained. Floral tributes are beautiful additions to the memorial park and convey sentiments of love and sympathy. Westlawn-Hillcrest offers a range of floral placement plans that let you choose the types of flowers and the timing of placement, making it easy for you to honor Mother's Day, Father's Day, a birthday or every single Tuesday.
