Honoring those from Hurricane Audrey

Hurricane Audrey, one of the deadliest tropical cyclones in U.S. history, devastated Southwest Louisiana on June 27, 1957. The loss of life caused by Hurricane Audrey was truly overwhelming, with an estimated 400 to 500 deaths, nearly one-third of which were children.

To this day, more than 30 of those individuals remain unidentified, many of whom are interred at Highland Memory Gardens. The tranquil garden honoring those from Hurricane Audrey is bordered with crepe myrtles and marked with a statue and plaque, forever paying homage to their memory.
