Since 1928, McLeod Mortuary has provided funeral services — including more recently cremation services — to people from all walks of life in Escondido and the surrounding San Diego community. Throughout that time, our offerings have evolved to reflect the needs of families. However, the funeral home’s commitment to care for those who have lost loved ones, with dignity and respect, has remained.

Personalized funeral services

Premium reception venue at McLeod MortuaryOur historic adobe building on East Valley Parkway is a comfortable place to plan a memorial. It has a beautiful chapel with stained-glass windows and an exposed-beam ceiling; the chapel seats up to 120 guests for a funeral service. Whether your family is seeking a large traditional funeral with a casket viewing and a reception afterward or a small cremation service followed by an intimate toast, our caring professionals are experienced in designing memorials that deeply reflect a loved one's life.

Each person is special, and a unique life deserves a unique celebration. Our funeral directors specialize in creating one-of-a-kind tributes that celebrate a person’s interests and individuality. They are practiced at finding inspiration in a hobby, passion, style or song and using it to inform a service like no other. From favorite foods and themed decor to preferred colors and personalized takeaways, we will do our very best to help you plan a fitting, memorable tribute.

We also handle details such as writing an obituary, coordinating pallbearers and arranging music. And the funeral home will prepare and file the death certificate and request copies for you.

Cremation is important in certain religions and cultures, but regardless of cultural or religious affiliations, more and more families are choosing cremation over other options.
