Celebration of life services

In addition to traditional funeral services, we can arrange customized celebrations of life. This can mean organizing a motorcade for a Harley-Davidson enthusiast or an organized procession of classic cars for a muscle car lover, perhaps even including a loved one’s own Corvette. The associates at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary want to showcase your loved one’s life and personality. We are pleased to assist in planning the service of your choosing, whether it is held on-site or at a church, temple, synagogue, outdoors or in another special venue.

We offer package planning and merchandise purchases through a state-of-the art digital presentation for selection and customization.

Cremation services

We specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our transparent pricing. With expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none.

More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:

• a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
• a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
• a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.

For those who wish for a more momentous memorial, Neptune Memorial Reef is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.

There are many options for cremation—and they're not all equal. Here's what you can expect when you choose us for your loved one's cremation:

• Custody of care guaranteed. Our custody-of-care program helps safeguard the identification of your loved one from the time we bring them into our care until the time we return them to your family. We check, cross-check and check again, every step of the way.
• Exclusive custody of your loved one. We use only crematories owned and operated by Dignity Memorial^® providers or trusted partners. Once your loved one is in our custody or that of a trusted partner, they’re in our care until they’re returned to your family.
• Licensed, certified, conscientious staff. All Dignity Memorial crematory operators are licensed and certified by Cremation Association of North America, or CANA. Only one person at a time is cremated, and the cremation chamber is thoroughly cleaned before the next person is cremated.

Spacious chapel

The spacious, all-faith chapel features an upgraded video and sound system to accommodate photos and music to honor your loved one. Our chapel holds up to 350 attendees for large services. We also offer two visitation rooms that can be used for pre-service visitations or intimate services.

Reception room

Hillcrest also offers a remodeled reception room, which can accommodate up to 120 attendees to gather for refreshments and food while also also providing a space of fellowship for families.

Compassionate associates

To assist families, we provide a highly professional staff, including Spanish-speaking associates. Our caring and compassionate experts are well-versed in helping families plan for a present need as well as helping those who choose to prearrange their funeral services. We are committed to helping families of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds. The memorials created will be long remembered for the manner in which they pay respect to the unique lives that have meant so much to their family and friends.

Hillcrest Memorial Park

The grounds at Hillcrest Memorial Park include over 80 acres of rolling hills, beautiful views of our valley and memorial water features. We offer many different cemetery options for our families, including private gardens and the Serenity Cremation Gardens, which feature a beautiful fountain and courtyard of brick niches for those who select cremation.

Our Chapel Mausoleum and Outdoor Pavilion area are also available for families to hold services as well as private family receptions.

We take great pride in honoring active duty military and veterans. Our Hill of Valor specifically honors veterans and members of the armed forces and features an upright monument display of all the branches of service along with their flags.  

Community connection

Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary is proud to be part of the Bakersfield community. We are honored to attend numerous events in the community, as well as host events at our memorial park. Two of our annual events are our Easter Sunrise Service and Memorial Day Celebration service.

The Easter Sunrise Service is a time of remembering and reminiscing, with more than 1,500 guests in attendance each year. Our Memorial Day Celebration is held in the Hill of Valor section, where monuments and flags from each branch of the armed forces are displayed. Veterans are honored during this service as a small token for all the brave men and women who have served our country.

We also offer a time to come together on Mother's Day, Father's Day, Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), Veterans Day and our In Remembrance Christmas Service. The community is our very own family, and we consider it our honor to assist and be part of events throughout the year.

Grief and support services

In addition to customizing celebration of life services, we offer numerous services to the families we serve. For example, we host a weekly grief support group to guide loved ones through the pain of loss.

As part of the Dignity Memorial family, we also have a 24-hour Compassion Helpline^® staffed by licensed psychologists to provide a compassionate ear in your time of need.

Relocation Protection of Prearranged Services means your prearranged and prepaid plans follow you anywhere across the country in the Dignity Memorial^® network. We also offer Bereavement Travel Services, assisting with arranging discounted hotels and flights or other forms of transportation to friends and family from out of town.
