About

Known as T.W. Curry Funeral Home in its earliest days, T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel bears the name of the man who founded the business in 1923. Today, our funeral home is run by compassionate and professional funeral experts who serve the people of Sydney in their times of need. Our team is experienced at helping guide families through the entire funeral process with a human touch.

Lasting legacy

For more than 90 years, the Curry family and their funeral homes have served Sydney and the Cape Breton community with the highest level of personal service, providing funeral, memorial and cremation services to families at an emotionally challenging time of life. Through the years, our funeral offerings have evolved to the changing needs of our community, but T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel’s commitment to honesty and trust remains steady.

Memorials that are memorable

Chapel at T.W. Curry Parkview ChapelWhat does that mean exactly? It means that at T.W. History

In September 1923, Thomas W. Curry founded T.W. Curry Funeral Home, then located at 390 George Street in Sydney. Thomas apprenticed with his father, William Curry, at Glace Bay. In 1966, when "T.W.," as he was familiarly known, retired, he sold his business to his son, Leo J. Curry.

Leo, a St. Francis Xavier University graduate like his father, considered medical school but decided instead to work at the family business. That same year, Leo bought former Sen. William MacDonald's property at 755 George St., which is still the location of T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel to this day.

Generations of service

Leo and his wife, Anne, have 7 children. Their eldest son, W.G. "Bill" Curry, represents the 4th generation of the Curry family to hold a funeral directors license. He and the T.W. Curry Staff maintain the tradition of serving families in the Sydney area with a commitment to innovation and personal attention. That means we go the extra mile to fulfill your wishes (or those of your loved one) for everything from a traditional church funeral to a modern celebration of life—complete with live music, catering and a send-off reflective of the personality and passions of a lifetime.

T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel is a member of the Dignity Memorial® network, allowing us to give you the warm, familiar attention you expect from a locally operated funeral home with the security you deserve from the largest network of funeral, burial, cremation and cemetery service providers in North America.
