About

First Memorial Funeral Services® Victoria, located at 1155 Fort Street in Victoria on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, opened in 1989 as a complement to the existing location in Saanich. This allows for greater travel convenience and more choice for our client families.

Formerly known as Cunningham Funeral Chapel and, before that, Chaplins Funeral Services, the building was renovated to facilitate the needs of our area families. First Memorial Funeral Services Victoria is situated just 5 blocks from the center of downtown Victoria, with its beautiful shops and restaurants, famous buildings, busy harbour and world-famous flowers.

Convenient and comfortable

Our funeral home accommodates all religious needs at either our comfortable chapel or at an alternative venue of your choosing. Our chapel seats 100 guests, with room for additional seating. The chapel and surrounding areas are wheelchair accessible. Our funeral home includes 4 arrangement offices and a convenient parking lot that adjoins the building.

We offer a full range of caskets and cremation alternatives, as well as urns and cemetery options. Many service options are available and include guest registers, service and acknowledgement cards, memorial portraits and floral arrangements. All card and guest-register printing is completed in-house by our administrative staff.

Special services

Chapel at First Memorial Funeral ServicesOver the years and as times changed, so have the needs of the families we serve. Following a more formal ceremony, you might like to hold an informal gathering with family and friends. To accommodate this request, First Memorial Funeral Services Victoria features a beautiful reception room, the Holly Room, which is adjacent to the chapel. This room is designed in an upbeat fashion with a bright Mediterranean décor and natural skylight. A courtyard features tables and benches for outdoor usage as well.

Cemetery gardens

Unique to Vancouver Island and centrally located in the Royal Oak area of Victoria, the Garden of Memories is dedicated to the memorialization of those who have chosen cremation. Within the gardens, we offer individual, companion and family options that include above-ground niches, memorial benches, urn gardens and tree estates. Designed to provide every family selecting cremation with a suitable place for permanent memorialization.
