Walter Otto Hannowsky Jr.
March 31, 1936 – May 9, 2024

Walter O. Hannowsky Jr., (Sonny) of Greenwood, Indiana was born on March 31st, 1936, in Indianapolis, Indiana and passed away on May 9th, 2024, at the age of 88 years old.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter O. Hannowsky Sr., and Jennie M. Hannowsky, his son Michael L. Hannowsky, his grandson Christopher Lee Hannowsky and his granddaughter Abigail Marie Sherwood.
Walter is survived by his wife Rebecca Hannowsky, daughters; Becky Sue Hannowsky, and Jacqueline Sherwood (Mike), sister Donna Marie Hannowsky Matsuoka, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Walter was active in Boy Scouts as a young man, and he attended the National Jamboree in 1950 and 1953. There he was awarded the God and Country award. He was a graduate of Shortridge High School in 1954 and was a Navy Veteran.
He enjoyed skiing out west in Colorado, Utah and California, scuba diving, underwater photography in the Caribbean Islands and wreck diving in the Great Lakes.
He was a retired member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 440, a Life Member of the American Legion Post 497 and a Life Member of the VFW Post 1400.
Walter worked as a Project Manager for 20 years at BMW Construction and 8 years at F A Wilhelm Construction Company. After retiring, he worked part-time for West Construction Management.

A calling for Walter will be held Friday, May 17, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM.
