Pat was born in March of 1932 to William and Agnes (Ozga) Glocheski. He attended Parkdale School and then St. Joseph High School from which he graduated in 1950. Pat married Carol Kubacki of Manistee on August 24, 1957 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee, MI.
Pat proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1952 to 1960. He was stationed in Korea during the Korean War and received the Korean Services Ribbon, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation and “AMBASSADOR FOR PEACE” Official Proclamation and Medal from the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Republic of Korea.
After Pat’s military duties concluded, he and his brother Chet became co-owners of the Mobil Gas Station on the corner of US 31 and River Street in Manistee where they also provided mechanic services and, in winter, driveway snow-plowing. After selling the Mobil Station, Pat began a long career at Manistee Iron Works/Michigan Tool/Ex-Cello Corporation. In 1982 Pat and Carol relocated to West Olive, MI where Pat began working as a Production Engineer at Textron in Zeeland, MI until his retirement in 1998.
Pat loved the outdoors and enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting in his younger years. He took pride in maintaining a manicured lawn and thriving duck pond at his Manistee home.
In June of 2002, Pat and Carol permanently moved to Sun Lakes in Banning, California to be near their two daughters and their growing grandchildren. He enjoyed his retirement years in California where he spent time with family, supported and mentored his grandchildren, made many new friends and played golf year-round. During his golfing days, Pat was a member of the Manistee Country Club, Bear Lake Country Club, Country Village Golf Club and finally the Sun Lakes Country Club of which he was an Honorary Member of the Executive Golf Club. Pat was an avid golfer and played until about a year ago. His golf skills were such that he had multiple Hole-In-Ones throughout his golfing years. Even though he couldn’t play anymore, his passion for the sport did not fade. Pat also loved to tinker around in his garage workshop. He made wooden clocks for his daughters, wooden jeeps for his grandsons and wooden rocking chairs for his granddaughters. He was meticulous in his woodworking craft. He made wooden measuring holders for the Sun Lakes Bocce Ball League and the Golf League. He often helped his Sun Lakes neighbors with minor household repairs.
Pat is survived by daughter Linda Iparaguirre, son-in-law Joseph, grandchildren Joseph (Joey), Philip and Brittany and by daughter Paula Cardenas, son-in-law Charles, grandchildren Emily, Shaun, Alese Morrow and great grandchildren Andrew and Austin. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 65 years, Carol (Kubacki) Glocheski. Also preceding him in death were parents William and Agnes, his 3 brothers, Chester (Chet), James (Jim) and Bernard (Bernie) Glocheski, his 5 sisters, Marie Ballard, Eleanor Miller, Dorthea Paprocki, Joann Froncek and Clarice Wittlief along with several nieces and nephews.
Pat was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Chapel in Banning, CA, and also a Member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Throughout his lifetime, Pat shared life with those he loved in a dignified and honorable manner, always willing to lend a helping hand, offering sound advice or just “shooting the breeze”. We will miss him dearly but he will remain in our hearts and memories forever.
A military service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA at a later date.
Condolences may be directed to: Linda (Glocheski) Iparaguirre c/o Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Ave., Beaumont, CA 92223.
