Russell Glenn Salters, 66, of Corsicana, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband to Lanette Salters and a loving father to Jennifer Magnone and Christopher Salters. Lanette and Rusty would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary together this year.
Rusty was born on May 12, 1958 in Jackson, Mississippi to Glen and Nell Salters and was raised in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi and Highlands, Texas. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1976 and retired from ExxonMobil after 25 years as a Marine Operations Supervisor. Rusty also served in the Harris County Sheriff’s Department and retired as a Sergeant after 29 years. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, boating, enjoying the outdoors and doing anything with Lanette, his high school sweetheart. He was the proudest PawPaw to his six grandchildren and never missed a chance to tell a (long) story.
Rusty joins his father and mother, Glen and Nell Salters in heaven along with his grandparents and brother in law (Scott Courtney, Sr). He is survived by his loving wife Lanette, children Jennifer (husband Marc) and Christopher (wife Lindsey), grandchildren Luca, Anthony, Sophie, Sarah, Shay and Annabella, and brother Steven Salters (wife Ambreen and children Sydney and Jackson). Also survived by his in-laws including Barbara Stewart (mother in-law), Dilcia Benoit (husband Kirk and children Ellie Denbigh and Earl Courtney), Melinda Mosley (husband John and child Abbie) and Kathleen Stilwell (children Jason Logan and Laura Mazzu).
A visitation will be held at Earthman Funeral Home in Baytown, Texas on May 21 from 5:30p to 8:30p and the funeral service will be held at First Baptist Highlands on May 22 at 11a. Interment will be at Sterling-White Cemetery in Highlands. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnels to Towers in his honor.
